Bare Minerals: BE Moxie and Merry Review
STORY TIME...A couple weeks ago, I found myself checking out the online store of the beauty mecca ULTA...naturally. I was originally on there just to buy shampoo (I promise!). I go in my email to get my coupon code, and there I see that I can get 5x points on Bare Minerals. ULTA Points = $$$. Whyyyyy do they do this to me?! I almost exclusively wear Bare Minerals makeup, so of course I had to go check it out.
For the holidays, I saw they were promoting a gift set of their Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss collection. Now, I've never really been much of a lipstick or colored gloss kinda gal. For some reason, wearing lipstick has always felt like it was too much for me. I like the natural color of my lips! So I've always just stuck with chapstick or a light sheer gloss.
So, I'm staring at my computer screen debating if I wanted to stretch my boundaries a little and purchase this set. And I did. Whyyyy ULTA, whyyy?! The set had excellent reviews, it was only $26 for 6 tubes, and they were the small sizes anyways. It was a good place for me to start on my lip color adventures, and here's what went down.
This color ended up being one of my favorites. It is described as a "nude pink," so I thought it looked very natural! This is a great natural tint to tie up any look, or even if you're not wearing any makeup and just want to throw on a quick gloss.
Charmer is a "ballerina pink" that did not quite hit the mark for me. It was a little bit too opaque in my opinion, which gave it a look of almost looking white. I think this color would look a lot better layered over a lipstick!
My favorite of the bunch!! This flirty shade is described as a "baby pink," so there is definitely more of a pinkish tint to it, but not too much. I think this is a universally flattering shade for everyone and is perfect for wearing to work or meeting some friends for Sunday Brunch. I will probably wear this one the most!
Unfortunately, this "metallic mauve with gold" was my least favorite. It was a little too orange-y for me and my skin tone, but I do think this would look a lot better on medium to dark skin tones. I also have a small mouth, so colors with any sort of vibrancy make my mouth look that much smaller. No bueno!
This one is definitely made for a super star! It is described as a "holographic teal prism." Um, what does that even mean? It doesn't go on as sparkly or as dark as it looks in the tube, but its still decently sparkly. It's a fun color to wear for a night out or during the holidays when there is glitter and sparkly things everywhere, but I definitely wouldn't wear it everyday.
I don't think I've ever worn anything this dark. It is a "Rosewood Shimmer" (PLL, anyone?) and I was pleasantly surprised by it! Again, pigmented colors make my small mouth look even smaller, so it will take some time for me to get used to. I would wear this during a night out or to complete a heavier makeup look.
Overall, I am very happy with my Bare Minerals BE Moxie and Merry Lip Gloss set. I really do think this is a great gift for anyone or for yourself! And its priced really well at $26. I love the quality of Bare Minerals makeup, and now I can say I am a fan of their lip gloss. It wears really well, and feels light, rather than super sticky like some other glosses out there. It has a little bit of a cool, minty feel too!
